Restorative dentistry and dentures
Restorative treatment can replace missing teeth or rebuild teeth with substantial structural damage. Fixed and removable options are considered alongside the remaining teeth and supporting tissues.

Understanding the options
Fixed restorations are not removed by the patient. Removable dentures can be taken out for cleaning. Some patients may also be suitable for fixed or removable implant-supported solutions. The choice depends on support, the pattern of missing teeth, cleaning access and personal needs as well as appearance.
From impressions to fitting
Following assessment and any necessary preparation, impressions are taken and trial fittings may be arranged. Fit, speech, appearance and the bite are checked. Adjustments can be a normal part of the process. Cleaning and use are explained for the particular restoration.
Getting used to a restoration
Eating and speaking may feel different at first. Persistent soreness, movement or a bite that does not feel right should be reviewed. Filing, bending or gluing a denture at home can damage it or harm the tissues supporting it.
Maintenance and replacement
Restorations do not remove the need for oral care. Remaining teeth, gums and restoration surfaces need appropriate cleaning. The mouth and the restoration can change over time, requiring review or adjustment. No single material or design is best for everyone.
