Caring for Crowns, Bridges and Removable Dentures
This guide provides general aftercare information. Follow the individual instructions from the dentist who treated you. Contact the clinic about new or worsening symptoms.
Care depends on whether a restoration is fixed or removable, its material and what supports it. Ask about the type you have and the cleaning tools appropriate for it.
Fixed restorations (Crowns & Bridges)
Clean along the gum margins and between teeth. Use the recommended tools beneath bridges or around implants. Follow chewing and cement-setting instructions for a temporary restoration. Never use household glue if a crown comes loose.
Removable dentures
Clean them outside the mouth with compatible products and take precautions against dropping them. Avoid hot water or unsuitable chemicals. Night-time removal is usually advised, although an immediate denture fitted after extraction may need different initial instructions. Ask how your particular denture should be stored.
Fit, comfort & ongoing checks
Do not file a sore area yourself. Arrange a check for persistent sores, breakage, looseness or difficulty chewing. Report movement in an implant-supported restoration. Review of the gums and other mouth tissues remains important even where natural teeth are no longer present.
For difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading facial or neck swelling, or a serious injury, do not wait for an appointment reply. Call 112 for emergency help in Türkiye.
