Gum contouring
Gum contouring may be considered to change the gum outline or establish a suitable tissue relationship for a restoration. A smile photograph alone is not enough to decide whether it is appropriate.

Why assessment matters
Gum display can be influenced by tooth position, lip movement, soft tissue and supporting bone. A change caused by swelling or inflammation should first be assessed as a health issue. Removing soft tissue alone is not the right solution in every case.
Planning and limitations
The proposed procedure must respect healthy tissue relationships and tooth support. A different approach or delayed treatment may sometimes be necessary. The method, extent and recovery should be explained in advance; the use of a specific device or laser must not be assumed.
Healing and care
Tenderness and changes in appearance may occur during healing. Follow your individual cleaning, eating and review instructions. The early appearance is not necessarily the final tissue position. Contact the clinic if pain, swelling or bleeding progresses unexpectedly.
Aftercare & Recovery Information
Follow practical guidelines for eating, cleaning and symptom management after treatment.
