Composite fillings
Composite fillings use tooth-coloured material to repair suitable areas of decay or damage. The aim is to rebuild shape and function while preserving as much sound tooth structure as reasonably possible.

Assessing the tooth
The size and depth of the defect, the condition of the pulp and the bite are examined. Not every painful tooth needs a filling, and a filling cannot resolve every type of damage. Larger defects or pulp problems may need a different restoration or additional treatment.
How a filling is placed
After the required cleaning and preparation, the material is bonded to the tooth, shaped and hardened. Contacts and bite height are checked before the surface is finished. Suitability depends on forces and cleaning access as well as appearance.
After treatment
Avoid chewing while the area is numb. Temporary sensitivity may occur, but significant pain on biting, a filling that feels high or worsening symptoms should be reviewed. Decay can develop around a filling, so daily cleaning and cleaning between teeth remain important.
Aftercare & Recovery Information
