How Is Clear-Aligner Treatment Planned?
Clear-aligner treatment is not planned from the appearance of your teeth alone. The required movements, bite, gum health and ability to follow a daily routine all matter. The first question is whether this approach is suitable for your situation.

Examination and records
After examining your mouth, the dentist decides which measurements, photographs and imaging are needed. Digital scanning may be used when appropriate. Decay or gum problems may need attention before tooth movement begins or as part of the overall care plan.
What the digital plan means
A digital plan helps assess the intended movements in stages. It is a planning tool, not a guarantee that treatment will finish in an exact time or match a simulation perfectly. Additional procedures and the limits of the method should be discussed before you decide.
Wear and follow-up
Follow your prescribed wearing time and change schedule. Cleaning and review appointments are part of treatment. If an aligner no longer fits, is lost or damaged, or an attachment comes off, contact the clinic rather than moving to another stage on your own.
Retention
Once active movement is complete, a retention plan helps maintain tooth position. Ask how the retainer should be worn and reviewed. Consider the whole process, from assessment through retention, rather than comparing treatments only by the number of aligners supplied.
