After Root Canal Treatment

This guide provides general aftercare information. Follow the individual instructions from the dentist who treated you. Contact the clinic about new or worsening symptoms.

The tissues around a treated tooth may remain tender for a while. Increasing discomfort, swelling or a bite that feels noticeably high needs checking. There is no single recovery timetable for every tooth.

Chewing & temporary fillings

Take care with chewing and hot drinks while numb. If you have a temporary filling, avoid chewing hard or sticky food on that tooth until the final restoration is complete. Contact the clinic if the whole temporary filling comes out or the tooth breaks; do not use household adhesive or try to repair it yourself.

Daily hygiene & medicines

Continue brushing and cleaning between teeth as advised. Use medicines only as directed and suitable for you. Relief from pain does not make the planned permanent filling or crown unnecessary.

Follow-up & permanent restoration

Complete the final restoration and follow-up appointments. Ask for assessment if swelling develops, pain increases or previous symptoms return. Ongoing care also includes checking the treated tooth over time rather than assuming that it can no longer develop problems.

For difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading facial or neck swelling, or a serious injury, do not wait for an appointment reply. Call 112 for emergency help in Türkiye.
