After Implant Surgery
This guide provides general aftercare information. Follow the individual instructions from the dentist who treated you. Contact the clinic about new or worsening symptoms.
Aftercare depends on the extent of surgery and your health. Follow any additional instructions for bone or soft-tissue procedures carried out at the same time.
The first few days
While numb, avoid hot food and drinks and take care not to bite your lip or cheek. Do not disturb the area with your tongue or fingers. Follow the advice you were given about gauze, cooling and rest. Choose food that is comfortable to eat and avoid loading the implant area.
Cleaning and medicines
Continue caring for the rest of your mouth and ask how and when to clean the surgical site. Use a rinse or medicine only as advised. Do not start antibiotics or change regular medicines independently. Tobacco use can affect healing.
When to contact the clinic
Report increasing swelling, bleeding that does not settle, fever, worsening pain, movement around the implant or numbness lasting longer than expected. Keep healing and stitch reviews. Feeling more comfortable does not mean that the implant is ready for the final restoration or unrestricted chewing.
For difficulty breathing or swallowing, rapidly spreading facial or neck swelling, or a serious injury, do not wait for an appointment reply. Call 112 for emergency help in Türkiye.
